Sharing a few real-world wins from our community.

This article lists three real use cases Guide users have shared with us, so you can get inspired or try them yourself.

1. Play an inaccessible web-audio player

“…it worked super well to click the inaccessible web player.” — Guide user

Prompt

Guide, play the audio player on the screen, make sure it is unmuted.

Why it matters

Some embedded players expose no alternative text on their media player icons; Guide targets the visual icon.

2. Dictate answers into an online exam

“…practising for my exam, dictated my answers and it typed them in the boxes. This is so cool.” — Guide user

Prompt

Guide, focus the first answer box. Then, type: “The doctrine of estoppel applies…”

Why it matters

Guide can find input fields that aren't in the tab order, as well as focus traps.

3. Control an Android Phone remotely

“…I have had it successfully control the screen on my Android phone.” — Guide user

Setup

  1. Mirror the phone to Windows (via Phone Link).
  2. Bring the mirror window to the foreground.
  3. Ask Guide to take whatever action you need on it.

Prompt

Guide, on the phone screen share, scroll down until you see “Settings” and double-tap it.

Why it matters

Some apps can be finicky with TalkBack. Even moreso, this is a creative example of how some users have found use cases for Guide we hadn't imagined.
