Introducing Smart and Expert Modes

Guide 2.5.0 is here, and it brings the biggest upgrade to Guide's intelligence since launch. Everyone gets a newer, more capable AI model automatically. And for the tasks that used to trip Guide up, there's now a second gear: Expert mode.

Smarter for everyone

Guide's default mode, Smart, now runs on a newer generation of AI model. On the industry benchmark for real computer tasks, navigating apps, filling in forms, moving files, it completes 3.4% more tasks successfully than the model Guide used before. The tasks it wins are the awkward ones: the ones that used to need a second try.

In everyday use, that means Guide plans multi-step jobs more carefully, finds its way around unfamiliar apps and websites more reliably, and gets clicks and text fields right more often.

You don't need to do anything. If Guide has updated, you're already on it.

Expert mode, for the hard stuff

Some tasks are simply harder: a booking with dates and options, a long form spread over several pages, comparing prices across tabs. For those, Expert mode puts a bigger, more capable model behind Guide, one built for long, multi-step work where there's more to keep track of.

Expert is included with Guide Standard and Guide Plus. Switch it on under Settings → Assistant Behavior → Assist mode. Guide remembers your choice, and you can switch back any time. On the free trial and Guide Lite, Expert appears in the list but isn't selectable; upgrading to Standard or Plus unlocks it.

More room for big tasks

Long jobs take more steps. A single assist can now run up to 40 actions, up from 30, so multi-page tasks are far less likely to stop short of the finish line. Your plan's monthly assists are unchanged.

How to update

Guide updates itself in the background while you use it. When 2.5.0 is ready, it will ask you to restart. That's it.
